I was born and raised in Palo Alto, California. After graduating from Gunn High (Go Titans!) I went to college at UC Davis where I received a BS in Design with a Graphics emphasis. I also minored in Botany and in English. I hold a multiple subject teaching credential and a single subject credential in Visual Arts and one in General Science. I specialize in arts integration to all subjects, and STEAM education.
My husband and I moved to Atwater in 2000 with our two (then) babies. Our son and our daughter were "lifers" here at McSwain School, and both went on to graduate from Buhach Colony High. I have been working at McSwain since 2005. First as the school secretary, then the Art Coordinator. After a few years, I became McSwain's full-time Art Teacher. In 2013 I started teaching 7th grade Science as well. In 2015, I added Garden Coordinator to my duties. In 2016, with the help of Bryan Tassey and his team from Merced College, we created the new school garden. For me, all things come together in the garden :o) Finally, in 2018, I switched grade levels, and now teach 5th grade Science and PE I love what I do here at McSwain, and am fortunate to have found such a golden opportunity.
